The Interior Design Directory
Interior Designer Sally Wilkinson has a knack for creating collected interiors. Her timeless, layered aesthetic has influenced this cosy TV room edit, with comfortable touches designed to draw people in. Her classical training leads her to balance distinction with personality, setting out her designs around calm key pieces.
This edit follows her philosophy of curating a room over time, featuring thoughtfully chosen pieces and a colour palette designed for later, ongoing additions.

Sally’s classical background influences her restrained approach to pattern. To not overwhelm a space, she uses muted florals, stripes, and textured fabrics, then combines these with block colours in natural fabrics like linen.
When designing the home, Sally suggests art is a priority, as it is impactful, practical to invest in, and if you are just starting out, will always move from house to house with you. ‘As time goes by, or if you move around, it is nice to have some things that have been with you for a while.’

Sally’s top recommendation is to embrace the process of collecting items you love, over time. This allows your collection to develop organically, creating a home that is a genuine reflection of your life, loves and personality.
