Franquemont

Franquemont creates meticulously crafted, refined fabrics and wallpapers inspired by historic textiles. Founded by Svetlana Willems, the studio reinterprets the heirloom batiks of their namesake Caroline von Franquemont, 17th-century Dutch textiles, and other archival motifs into contemporary works of craftsmanship. Woven and printed in England, each design is rich in depth, character, and beauty.

The Story behind

Global textile traditions preserved and reimagined

Franquemont was founded in 2023 by Svetlana Willems, inspired by a love of historic textiles discovered while renovating her 18th-century canal house in Amsterdam. Trained at Central Saint Martins and mentored by Emma Mawston, former Head of Design at Liberty Fabrics, she researches not only patterns, but also the colour, scale, context, and making of archival textiles. The result is rich, timeless fabrics and wallpapers that combine historic depth with contemporary craftsmanship.

Services

Fabrics and wallpapers celebrating heirloom textiles

Materials are responsibly sourced, and production is carefully managed to minimise waste. Fabrics are available as samples or by the metre, with wallpaper samples also available. International shipping is offered.
