The Story behind

Meaningful design crafted with care and conscience

Founded in 2021 in Rajasthan by Isabella Valenzia, Pelican House was born from her passion for art history and textiles, and a desire to shine a light on the artisans behind handcrafted rugs. Seeing the lack of transparency and recognition in the global market, she set out to bridge the gap between buyers and the skills and traditions of India’s weaving communities. Joined by Creative Director India Holmes, she continues to champion craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and a more meaningful approach to design.

A woman walks between rows of colored yarn hanging to dry outdoors, with white and brown buildings in the background under a clear blue sky.
A warm yellow hallway with a rustic bench, red-patterned pillows, framed art on the wall, a large map, a small red chair, and a chevron rug. Sunlight shines through a door in the background.
