The Story behind
Prue, with a background in fashion and art, and Emerald, a textile designer, formed Bloomfield Ink in 2021 from a shared passion for colour, pattern and design. The idea came over a plate of salad – spotting pattern in the everyday – and deciding by the end of lunch to make wallpaper together. Each design evolves through drawing and sampling, with Emerald transferring watercolours to lino and cutting them by hand. Colours come from vintage Winsor & Newton powder paints once owned by her grandparents, discovered in an old tin barn that is now their Herefordshire studio. Prue’s Australian upbringing brings a love of sharp and fresh colour, with the hand-mixed pigments then matched and replicated by a traditional family-owned printer in Lincolnshire.
