The Story behind
Founded in 1985, A Shade Above was built on a commitment to quality and personal service. What began as a family business has evolved into a team of makers, technicians, and project managers working across bespoke commissions. Every project is approached with care and precision, guiding both one-off pieces and larger schemes from specification through to delivery; from private commissions to installations at the Royal Academy Of Arts and the Royal Opera House.
Services
A Shade Above creates bespoke, made-to-order lampshades across a wide range of styles, alongside semi-bespoke and ready-to-install collections. A dedicated showroom and online portfolio support the design and specification process, offering guidance on shapes, fabrics, finishes, and fittings. Projects are undertaken globally and managed seamlessly from concept through to delivery.

Founded in 2018 by Bella Cramer and Daisy Bell, the consultancy was created to bring the art world directly to its clients. Drawing on Bella’s experience at a creative agency working alongside artists and designers, and Daisy’s background at Tate and the Royal Academy of Arts, the studio combines curatorial expertise with strong market knowledge and a commitment to sourcing unique pieces. Every project begins with a conversation to understand each client’s artistic preferences and vision before building a tailored collection.
Cramer & Bell oversee the full creative and procurement process of curated art collections, including curation, framing, delivery, storage and installation. As a certified B-Corp company and members of 1% For The Planet, the studio supports environmental and charitable initiatives through artwork donations and fundraising projects. Individual works are available through their online gallery, C&B Curates.

After years working in interior architecture, Charlotte and Jack Spurrier started Headboards & Ottomans to bring a more thoughtful approach to bespoke upholstered furniture. They guide each piece from something as simple as a sketch, through the design process and then onto production, combining close collaboration with a strong understanding of upholstery and detailing.
Headboards & Ottomans offers made-to-order upholstered pieces, fully customisable in shape, size, fabric and detailing – from contrast piping and edge fabrics to stud work and skirts. A selection of house fabrics is available, or clients may supply their own at no additional cost. A sketch or reference image is enough to begin.

Founders Pernille Lind and Richy Almond are best known for the interiors of Lind + Almond, including Hotel Sanders in Copenhagen. With materiality, craftsmanship and sensory experience at the centre of their work, their bespoke projects led them into furniture design, working closely with craftspeople and artisans across Europe. Their inaugural collection, developed for Hotel Sanders in 2017, went on to become modern classics. In 2025, they launched Hyem to showcase their growing collection. Hyem – pronounced yem – means home in both Pernille’s Danish mother tongue and the dialect of Richy’s North East England, a linguistic remnant of the Viking era and a lasting link between their heritage.
Hyem’s collection is made to order by skilled artisans in the UK and Portugal, with each piece customisable in size and finish. Bespoke pieces available for something entirely unique, drawing on the team’s expertise in furniture design and making. Samples available across all materials and finishes. A small amount of stock may be held – get in touch for availability. International shipping available.

Founded by Elvira Wheaton in 2021, Clovelly Cloth grew from a deep admiration for the decorative richness of historical British textiles – flowing botanicals, woven ginghams, layered patterning and an unapologetic love of decoration. Elvira first began thinking about her own collection while living in sunny Clovelly in Sydney, before returning to the UK where she began working for Soane Britain, cementing her love of interiors and obsession with textiles. After a decade immersing herself in the interiors industry, she launched Clovelly Cloth, creating a collection of fabric, wallpaper and homewares inspired by historical design and a commitment to sustainable production.
Clovelly Cloth offers a collection of weaves and hand screen-printed fabrics and wallpapers, with guidance on suitability for curtains, blinds and upholstery. Bespoke colours and a full bespoke design service offered. Made-to-order lampshades available in all collection fabrics, with cushions made using offcuts to reduce waste. Samples available on request. International shipping available.
