WHO WE COME BACK TO Rugs in the wider scheme Interior Designer Gaby Roads of De Rosee Sa on collaborating with 16TEN Rugs: the pieces that work across schemes, and looking beyond familiar choices. Gaby Roads Interior Designer, De Rosee Sa October 23, 2026 | 2 min read It’s enjoyable working with 16TEN and collaborating with them on new rugs. Founders Lucy and Sophie met while studying textiles and share an interest in traditional craftsmanship, and it shines through in their work. They’re always open to exploring materials and compositions, finding ways to enhance a scheme, while helping us keep an eye on budget. The Cubic, which is made from allo, is one design we return to time and again. It has just the right amount of pattern to add interest without ever dominating a space, which makes it versatile across different projects. For me, that balance is what makes a rug work: it needs to sit comfortably within the wider interior. “It has just the right amount of pattern to add interest without ever dominating a space.” Gaby Roads, Interior Designer, De Rosee Sa 16TEN rugs used to zone open-plan spaces in De Rosee Sa’s Mayfair project. Using several designs from the same supplier helped create continuity across the apartment, and at the same time allowing each rug to suit its particular setting. I think it’s worth looking beyond the designs we instinctively choose. The Irving and Florence designs aren’t necessarily what I would normally specify for instance, but I can see the fluid patterns working well in a bedroom. At the moment, the Willis is my favourite from the 16TEN collection. Hand-loomed in Nepal from 100% mohair, it’s a rug I’d use to bring texture to a room without introducing another strong pattern.
