Coral + Hive

With a deep respect for craft and a love of natural materials, Coral + Hive hand weaves bespoke rugs with textures unique to their loom, giving each piece understated luxury, warmth, and a sense of calm. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, and supported by a London showroom and a family-run loom partner in India, the studio works alongside one of Africa’s largest weaving looms. Natural fibres are carefully sourced, washed, dyed, spun, and hung in the sunshine, creating the imperfectly perfect textures that define their rugs. Each piece is a quiet expression of skill, heritage, and connection, shaped through their collaborative and personal approach.

The Story behind

Handwoven from nature, shaped by the soulful rhythm of human hands

Coral + Hive was founded by South African Jeannine Birch to celebrate the artistry of her homeland and champion a slower, more considered way of living. Spellbound by women weavers from a young age, Jeannine soon focused solely on the deep and beautiful world of handwoven rugs. Each piece is created in close collaboration with skilled artisans, capturing the textures and tones of nature through natural fibres, exceptional weaving talent, and thoughtful design. Their weavers are deeply at home among their looms, creating sustainable heirloom rugs that invite slowing down and unwinding, imbued with the warmth and spirit of the hands that made them.
