Kalinko’s homewares are handcrafted in Burmese villages using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Sustainably sourced materials – local rattan, reclaimed hardwoods, recycled glass, brass, and marble – highlight natural textures and celebrate imperfection. Each design blends timeless craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, resulting in functional pieces that feel modern while honouring heritage. Quality and durability are central, with items often taking weeks to make; designed to last in both style and structure. Kalinko works directly with makers, ensuring fair pay, ethical sourcing, and meaningful community support.
The Story behind
Kalinko was founded by Sophie Garnier and her husband after a move to Yangon in 2015 turned into a seven-year stay. Living in Burma opened their eyes to the extraordinary skill of local artisans and the challenges they faced in reaching global markets. What began as a passion project became a platform for sharing traditional Burmese craft with the world. Kalinko now serves as a conduit between cultures: sustaining heritage techniques while bringing timeless, characterful pieces into everyday life.
Services
Trade partners can enquire about bespoke commissions, ensuring every vision can be realised with care and craftsmanship.
Look out for Kalinko’s popular The Wonky Sale that celebrates perfectly imperfect pieces, each with its own character, from minor marks to playful quirks, offering them new homes rather than the landfill.
